Under the direction of the Fleet Manager, our Fleet Mechanic repairs and overhauls automobiles, trucks, and other automotive vehicles by performing the following duties. Repairs are tied largely to preventative maintenance (PM) and general troubleshooting but may also include collision damage repair.

Responsibilities:

· Maintains proficiency in the diagnosis and repair of all assigned equipment.

· Assists Lead Fleet mechanic in the completion of project work.

· Performs PM troubleshooting, repairs, and modifications on assigned equipment.

· Maintains proficiency in all aspects of PM for assigned vehicles and equipment.

· Reads/Comprehends service information.

· Maintains a high level of skill in:

- repairing and inspecting refrigeration units, bodies, and lift gates

- troubleshooting vehicle computer electronics systems

- testing, rebuilding, and calibrating of fuel injection systems

- repairing and adjusting torsion arms and landing gear

- testing, repairing and/or replacing electrical and lighting systems

- repairing and overhauling brake systems

- repairing or replacing damaged tires

· Washes and fuels equipment as requested.

· Performs other duties as assigned, delegated or required.

What Experience, Skills, and Attributes Will You Need to Be Successful?

· One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

· Must be certified or be willing to get certified to drive a forklift in accordance with OSHA standards.

· While performing the duties of this job, the fleet mechanic should be able to frequently use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. While performing the duties of this job, the fleet mechanic is frequently required to stand and walk. 

· The fleet mechanic should be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds approximately 10% of the time. 

· Specific vision abilities required by this job include depth perception.
