Life Skills Specialist

Organization: COCAS (Commission on Culture and Society) & ME Living Inc.

Location: Georgia (Hiram base with hybrid/remote program support possible)

Job Type: Full-Time or Part-Time

About Us

At COCAS & ME Living , we provide housing, therapy, case management, and reentry support for individuals and families overcoming domestic violence, incarceration, homelessness, and substance abuse recovery .

The Life Skills Specialist is a hands-on role that empowers clients with the knowledge and practical tools they need to build independence and long-term success.

Position Summary

The Life Skills Specialist will lead classes, workshops, and one-on-one sessions that help clients develop essential everyday skills, from financial literacy to job readiness. This role is both educational and supportive , giving clients the confidence to navigate life after crisis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver life skills workshops (budgeting, cooking, time management, parenting, communication, etc.).

  • Provide one-on-one coaching to clients based on individual needs.

  • Collaborate with case managers and therapists to align skills training with client care plans.

  • Help clients with job readiness (resume building, interview prep, workplace professionalism).

  • Track attendance, participation, and progress for reporting.

  • Connect clients to community resources and follow up on referrals.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong teaching, coaching, or mentoring skills.

  • Excellent communication and motivational abilities.

  • Ability to work with diverse populations and build trust.

  • Creative, patient, and adaptable approach to client needs.

  • Strong organizational skills for class planning and recordkeeping.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associates or Bachelors degree in Human Services, Education, or related field preferred.

  • 12 years experience in teaching, training, coaching, or social services .

  • Knowledge of community resources and vocational services in Georgia is a plus.

  • Valid drivers license and reliable transportation preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay: $16 - $21 per hour (based on experience).

  • Flexible scheduling (some evening/weekend classes possible).
